Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. She has released more than 20 albums. Her music is classified as folk-rock and alternative rock although it has additional elements of punk, funk, hip hop and jazz. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement and is among the first artists to create her own record label in 1990. DiFranco is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They began their relationship in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian heritage and her mother was originally from Montreal. Ani Difrasco composed and recorded the song "32 Flavors". This song appears on her album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. This track appears on the film's soundtrack the Canadian romantic drama Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it became known that she was scheduled to hold the three-day event in the site of a Louisiana ex-slave plantation.
